We're excited that you will be joining the Law School Community soon and congratulate you on being accepted to Santa Clara University School of Law.  


Hopefully, you have already done "Preparing for Orientation Part-1..." because you will need your SCU Network ID/Username and password to complete the setup to access student WiFi network



UPDATE: University will require all users to have ClearPass OnGuard agent installed on computers that need to access SCU network resources



Important terms to know


Workday: This is the student administration portal where you can update and/or retrieve information on items like your Anonymous Grading ID (AGID, BGID), registration information, personal information, network ID etc.


Student ID: The ID number assigned to you, usually in the format of W00000123456, where 00000123456 is your student ID (also known as 11-Digit). You will also need your 11-digit student ID to register for exam taking software.


SCU Network ID/Username: This your SCU Networking user account, i.e. your official SCU G-Suite email address minus the "@scu.edu." For example, the network ID for RBGinsburg@scu.edu is RBGinsburg. Your SCU Network ID/Username will be used for MySCU, Camino, Zoom, Access Office, etc.


MySCU: This is single sign-on portal to access SCU apps, i.e. SCU G Suite, Camino, Zoom, Access Office,etc.


Network Access Control Client: ClearPasss OnGuard, starting Fall 2022, is a security layer managed by University IT to grant SCU users access to the Internet and SCU network resources via SCU's campus WiFi network.

Policy Key: Certificate that needs to be installed in order for the Network Access Control client to authenticate to policy server to provide you access to SCU campus WiFi network and resources.

Eduroam: SSID, service set identifier designated for registered SCU students and serves as your main WiFi network on campus. NOTE: When prompted for your credentials , then you must enter your full SCU email address and then your MySCU password to access eduroam WiFi network

SCU-Guest: SSID, service set identifier designated for SCU visitors on campus.

Smart Print: Pay for print system on campus



Prerequisite. In order to get connected to SCU's student WiFi Network (eduroam), you must have already setup your MySCU portal account and Duo 2FA. When eduroam prompts you for credentials, then enter your full SCU email address (eg bbronco@scu.edu) and your MySCU password. Also, it may challenge via SCU's Duo 2FA system.


Step 1. Check to make sure you have an approved anti-virus application. Check here for a list of approved SCU anti-virus software. If you do, then go to Step 2. Otherwise, we recommend that you install an anti-virus software first before you install the policy key. 


If you have an approved Anti-Virus software, then skip this install. Santa Clara University requires that you have an anti-virus software install on your laptop to gain access to the campus WiFi network

Step 2. Now that you have have installed/verified an anti-virus software on your computer, you can now connect to SSID (eduroam) and complete your final setup below.


Select the SSID Eduroam, enter your SCU email address, and MySCU password. For more information on how access eduroam, click here. Or, review the video to learn how to get on eduroam and use our campus Internet access.

Make sure to also install and implement your 2 Factor Authentication, Duo 2FA. Many SCU applications will require Duo so make sure to setup Duo 2FA after you have setup your MySCU Portal (SCU Email, Google Workspace, Zoom, Camino, etc.).

Open up a browser and access an external site like https://www.change.org to check your connection status to the Internet via Eduroam WiFi network on campus.
Santa Clara University is serious about protecting you and your information. Santa Clara University IT requires all faculty, staff, and students to implement two factor authentication, called Duo 2FA. To setup Duo2FA, then check this page on how to setup Santa Clara University Duo 2FA.
Network Access Control agent, ClearPass OnGuard, will be required to gain full access to SCU networks. OnGuard will make sure your system is running up-to-date anti-virus/anti-malware software as well as modern up-to-date operating systems. Failing to install the OnGuard agent or not fixing issues OnGuard finds will result in loss of network access.

To download ClearPass OnGuard from off campus, then visit the SCU OnGuard agent download site.

From on campus, you can point your browser to https://www.scu.edu/onguard to download the agent. You can also goto https://www.scu.edu/eduroam and click the links above the log in box.
